Overview:

Project PASS (Penguin Assistants for Student Success) is a one-on-one tutoring program that matches Youngstown State University (YSU) undergraduate students with 2nd grade students in Youngstown City Schools (YCS). The purpose of PASS is to provide training for undergraduates to tutor 2nd grade students in reading. Project PASS tutors worked with students from January-May 2015.

The OERC is conducting an evaluation of Project PASS to determine the effectiveness of tutors. Second grade reading tests will be the primary evaluation variable, and information on tutor training and Project PASS implementation will inform the results.
